Hey Machado

Thank you very much for sharing all these nice pictures and all that information, I'm sure you are an inspiration to many :)

I wondered if you ever considered using marble as base for your fragments. It is simply a crystalline form of calcium carbonate and I've read/seen/heard somewhere that fragments love to grow on marble.

I thought that when choosing light, the more PAR the better thus 10.000K should be better than 15.000 - Is it only for coloration 50%(10.000K)-50%(20.000K) is best or also for general growth. Because otherwise it could be an idea to initially grow the fragments under 10.000K until they reach a certain size and then boost their color with higher kelvin...

Hi mastou!
I didn't forget to respond to you. :)
My next experience will be with marble fragments. I just visited some interprises of marble sawyers and I have already some marble pieces to try. I'll give you the feedback.
I think that it is a valid option but nuisance algae may be a problem if you not always keep phosphates at lowest levels.
Thanks for your comments.

Cheers,

Hi Machado

Just curious have you had the time to experiment with fragments growing on marble?
And sorry if you already answered my question (I just didn't get it) does higher Kelvin boost the color of the corals?

I gotta ask, what are your opionions/feelings on Running a Sulfur Denitrator or any Denitrator for that matter?

Just asking because I find it alot easier (and more space efficient) to run a Denitrator oppose to a large refugium for macroalgae and was wondering if this is something that could work in a larger-scale frag setup.

The reason I run a refugium is to provide somewhere for pods and other creatures to grow and to have a completely different ecosystem. The nutrient removal is secondary in my books.

great tanks!

how many gallons of calcium supplements do you dose per day? :D and other supplements too! hehehe

I am curious to see how your corals have grown over the last couple of months. Your system is incredible and I have enjoyed reading about it with much pleasure.

Thanks,
Garrett

I am really impressed!! I am going to change my lamps to T5 with Blue plus and blue special.

Very very informative and educating thread.

This are the only ATI Tubes I use:

I Combine:
Maternity - 60% Blue Special with 40 % Blue Plus (to enhance coral growing)
Nursery - 50% Blue Special with 40 % Blue Plus
Day Care - 50% Blue Special with 40 % Blue Plus

Here's something i dont understand, are you using a 8 bulb setup or 10 bulb? How can you have a 50-40% light config also are you just using the blue bulbs and nothing else? Can you explain this in more detail. Anyone? thanks!

I have changed my lights to BP and BS (3+3, 54W each) from MH (250WX2, 12K) and super actinic (T5X2, 54W). I have to say the colors are really good now and the bill has droped too.

But I am too embarassed to put my modest pictures here :)
Thou shall not pollute the quality of thread by posting low quality pictures :D
