Coral Morphologic Group Buy (in August)?!?!?!?

Ooohhh, so www.CoralMorphologic.com has a new group buy policy, which they've posted at "the other" reef forums of which we cannot speak or link here (NR, R2R, TRT).

When Paul came to my place the other day, he said that I have gotten him back into rics, and Janie and Randy want my pinks, so before I go hacking up my tank to placate my buddies...... how about a group buy? I'm thinking August so everyone is recovered (financially, emotionally, and calorically) from the swap. If not, no worries, I'll go it alone - been there & done that!

The new group buy policy is:
10% off.
Free shipping over $250.
Free Blueleg hermit per $5 spent.
Free frags for the group buy "facilitator"... did someone say my name? lol

Depending on what they have in the WYSIWYG when we order, I'll probably approach $250 alone, but I'll share the Mc(Love)in, and 10% off never hurts! For those on the fence, I've ordered several Ric packs off the 'net, and let me tell you, their 11 for $99 is by far the best deal in terms of quality:quantity I've seen... no "filler" rics and none of my CM rics have melted. Oh, they've got other corallimorphs (like the awesome sanctithomae & carlgreni mushrooms) and some spankin' zoas too. The WYSIWYG stuff varies week by week and a group buy lasts 7 days, so it would be best to start right when they post a bunch of new stuff (join their mailing list to get the skinny).

[/rant] and no, I am not sponsored or otherwise affiliated...just a ricordea aficionado. :)

If I have $$ in August, I'm interested.
O wait, isn't there a Frag Swap in August?
Somewhere close I think....
Someplace starting with a C....

No need to wait till August for me... And as Lisa stated, CRC swap is in August... I'm sure I can find something... There are a couple I would like now... :)

If there is consensus on doing this sooner rather than later, how about we shoot for mid-July, (hopefully starting the group buy right when they post a new batch of new WYSIWYG, and having it ship to arrive the Friday before this month's meeting? That way, folks could meet on Friday or pick them up at Eddie's on Saturday. (Rics and Zoas are pretty hardy).

Randy, you missed a nice gold one they had. :(

Th updates are usually sunday or monday... they just posted 25 new WYSIWYG ricordea and 16 zoanthid colonies like clockwork. Have Pavlov's dogs begun drooling? :)

How about we start the group buy on the next posting, which very well might be next monday?

Are you going to notify them that twe are planning this??? See if they are willing to reserve/hold what we pick?? and when is the due date??? wednesday?

Yeah, I'll let Colin know when we want the group buy opened. Actually, I'll send him an email tonight and let him know of our shipping date.

It will be open for a week, and they'll hold what you pick and ship it all together, individually bagged & labelled.

We should aim for it to close on Wednesday, June 22 for shipping the 23th and arrival the 24 (Friday) for pick up @ Fed Ex or at Eddies on the 25th.

Sound good?

Are we to paypal you, pay you when we get them or what? horrible plan, how about open on the monday, close that wednesday, ship thursday and arrive friday. And that way we can pick up that day or at the meeting on saturday.

I can front the money, or Janie can do it with club funds and we pay her back...I believe that is the new(ish) ETRC policy.

There's no reason not to open the full seven days ahead. That way more people can get in, or there is a greater chance that WYSIWYG stuff gets posted and we can add whatever we want.

Here's the full text of their new policy:
We have come up with a simple plan for helping you and your reef club to purchase our corals in such a way that is convenient, reduces or eliminates shipping costs, and provides everyone with a discount (and much needed scavenging hermit crabs!).

We are offering the following benefits to reef club group buys (3 or more people):
10% off all livestock
1 free blue leg hermit crab with every $5 spent on corals
Free shipping for orders that total $250 or more
In order to facilitate a group buy in the most streamlined fashion, we ask that a set person from the group takes charge as the designated 'Organizer'. This person is responsible for communicating between the group buyers and Coral Morphologic. We also ask that the Organizer take responsibility for receiving and distributing the corals once they are delivered. If things go smoothly, we also provide the Organizer with a couple of bonus corals for putting in the extra effort and responsibility...

Here is the information that we need to know in order to open the group buy:
Date the group buy opens (10% discount begins)
Shipping date (no more than 7 days after the group buy opens)
We will pack and label each bag with the name of the buyer clearly written on it so that it is easy to distribute on the day of arrival.

If you have specific questions we will be more than happy to answer them directly by e-mailing us at coralmorphologic@gmail.com

Cheers,
Colin, Jared, and Graham

Do they ever carry Yumas? Not too much into the FL Rics but have started to develop a debilitating addiction to the Yumas.

Dave

I think they had some aquacultured once, but nothing special.
99% of their stuff is Caribbean wild-caught.

You'll have to share some nice Yumas if you ever frag. :)

They're not here yet, but the bill is, and I'm feeling broke. Here are pics of what I'm expecting, though:

And another I've always wanted but never had a "dirty" enough tank, a gonio:

Obviously not my pics so we'll see what shows up tomorrow.

Dave

so do we get the crabs that come witht the amount that we order???

Dave, that second yuma is sick. Dibs on the first baby

I like the second one Dave... :) Its too bad that those ones that we got from Matt (Bristol) melted... They were freaking nice!!! LMK how those two do for you...
