Different cameras see colors differently. Different lenses see colors differently. Different white balance settings dictate how the camera sees the colors. Of course the lens sees them first. This is one of countless reasons why a great lens is great.
I know the Quantaray 70-300 f/4-5.6 well as my best friend owns it. In fact, my avatar was taken with that lens on a 300D. You should post some examples before I can tell you what is going on though.
