coral placement advice

Roll Tide!!!
OK, I have 2 54w T5's 12000k, 2 54w T5's actinics and 2 65w 6500/10000k pc's in a 24" tall 90 gallon tank. I just got some new corals from a freind and need to know what placement would be recommended with my lighting.

Green Sinularia
Birdsnest (red w/ green tips)
Candy Cane Coral (Caulastrea curvata)
Candy Cane Coral (Caulastrea furcata)

Also what should I feed these corals? Phyto, Micro?

IMO the Sinularia and Birdsnest would both do a bit better toward the top and the Candy Cane will do fine in a low to mid placement. I don't think supplemental feeding will really be required for any of those corals. Wouldn't hurt anything to feed the Candy Canes some mysis or something along those lines.

i read on LA that the birds of paradise birdsnest was difficult and need supplemental feedings. Anyone else have this coral?

What kind of lighting did your friend have? Lets just say your friend's lighting was less intense than yours. In that case I would place your corals at the bottem and then after 2 days or so bring them up a step, to the middle and then to the very top. It also helps to put some eggcrate on top of the tank. Then remove them after 2 days.

I agree with high placement for the sinlularia. I'd start the birdsnest mid tank and see how it does maybe move up after a week. Candy cane mid tank and up if you like. . No supplemental feeding should be necessary if you are feeding fish but mysis, cyclopeeze and or something like coral frenzy are good choices if you wish to feed.

I have the ora bird's of paradise. I've had it for about 4 months . Doing well and growing nicely. at about 12 inches deep under 250w 14k halides with vho actinics, in good flow . I don't feed it but do keep over 40 fish in the system and feed them well. I know of several that are thriving .Generally , I think seriatopoa suffer more than most sps when nitrates are marginaly high.So feeding could be a mixed blessing.

My freind has VHO only the bulbs are about 6 feet long and he has 4 of them. Not sure about the wattage. As of now the candy corals are placed a little higher than midrange and the birdsnest and sinularia are about 6" below the surface. The birdsnest and sinularia are in a high flow area. Birdsnest is open and happy but the sinularia is still droopy.
