Coral positioning for long term success.

I would like to know if anyone has any good links or infomation regarding coral placement for the benifits of astetics ,(welfare & warfare) and longterm growth.

for your tank you'll have to move them around to see where there the happiest. then attach them securely and make sure they have ample room to grow. then keep everything as stable as possible and have patience.

You will move things in your tank until you find the optimum location for growth and happiness. Even after a few years I've moved pieces around to fit others in.

A few factors that I try to keep in mind are;
-Is their adequate flow? Enough for the coral to mature into.. but not too direct or one dimensional. I try to place most Acroporids where the polyps are getting rocked from side to side (what is commonly called 'varied flow').

-Spacing. Will this coral have room to expand/encrust without running into it's neighbor? Some species grow like weeds and will quickly take over slower growing ones. Others are more sensitive and require intense lighting/specific flow and will quickly decline if their requirements aren't met.

-Lighting. Am I providing enough light for this species? and secondly, will this coral shade others around it? Plating species need to be placed in areas where they can develop without excessively shading other corals. Some Acros can also block a significant amount of flow and light as they gain mass.

Just a few thoughts...

True.
Depsite all the planning in the world. It seems an SPS tank display is never static.

If I had more time I'd probably move things more than I do just out of gradual boredom with the appearance.

thanks I guess I will just look at some of the more well and fully grown out systems on site and gather placement ideas.
thanks for your responces
