Coral propagation question

I basic question about coral propagation... I have a single brown polyp that came on a piece of live rock that I purchased this summer. Since I've had it, it has more than doubled in size, but I've yet to see any sign that it's going to multiply. Some green mushrooms that I got at the same time are just now starting to multiply and the other corals in my tank appear to be growing ok.

How do coral polyps like this multiply and what should I be watching for? I can post a pic later if it would help.

Thanks

It should multiply, just takes time. The base will spread and a new polyp/s will form from that. They will spread if they are getting plenty of light and the water parameters are ok. Some types spread faster than others.

From what I've noticed in my tank, one polyp by itself rarely multiplies. Maybe if you feed it then it will.
