Coral question

I had to return my Tek 8x54 light fixture back to Marine depot because a ballast went out. They said it would be about a 5 day turn around. Was wondering if my corals will be ok during this??

I have 2 kenya trees, 2 birds nest, 2 Goniopora, and a bunch of Zooanthids (maybe 60 heads).

Also bought a refugium. It has 2 filter socks that catch all the water coming from the tank. Is that going to trap all the copepods from making it to the refugium?? I've found a couple in the socks after just a couple days.

The kenya and Zoos should be fine I know this from experience now the birdsnest on the other hand I don't think would make it that long and the gonipora I would be on the fence about as well. My brothers ballast went while he was out of town for a week and didn't lose a single coral but he had all softies though. See if someone in the club has an extra light of somesort something is better than nothing or see if someone can house them for a while.

You should be ok

as far as the filter socks... they will catch teh bad and the good stuff in your tank. If you are stocking the fuge with LR rubble, macros or whatever else, you will have pods show up sooner or later, don't worry.

I have pods now in my display tank (they are everywhere). They are ending up in the filter socks. Haven't stocked the fuge yet, just got it set up sunday. Researching on what I should stock it with at the moment.

I would only use LR rubble, and chaeto. maybe some live sand... I would stay away from the calupera so you don't have the issues that can come along with that

what about this "mudd". Gentleman at the Pet Warehouse was trying to sell it to me when i bought the refugium but i wanted to do some research first.

I have thought about it before, and was told by another club member that you never know what you are going to get in the mud. The member told me that he got some funky algae or something along those lines when using the mud

Forgot I had it in the closet so I threw it on for now. Better then nothing I suspose.

Have another question so I'll ask here instead of opening a new thread. Is there a certain paint to use for the back of the tank. Going to paint it black but wasnt' sure which kind to get.
