Has anyone used two little fish coral revive?
I dipped a acro and a tort both had been damaged due to an alk problem I had.
the acro looks better after the dip but looks like I killed the tort. The tort was doing better of the two.
feed back on coral revive? Not sure I should use it

Works great but i have had trouble with certain corals and long dips. Also not good to use a powerhead for circulation in a dip bucket with this dip, it will blow the skin off the coral if the coral is near the powerhead during the dip. I still use it but only on corals other than smooth skin acros or sensitive pieces like some torts or pieces that have been in unstable alk.

I just recently dipped some of my acros in revive due to a small AEFW breakout. Though they're bleached white from all that shock and what not. So I said to hell with Revive, it's too harsh. I went and purchased Bayers. All my buddies here in town use that for their acros. It's a lot less harsh on the Acro itself. Works awesome!

Good to know - I used a turkey baster but did put it back in a high flow area.
what do you use for a coral dip?

I put corals in a low flow area after revive dips. I used it for aefw treatments back when i had them so i know how to use it without hurting corals, 15 min is way to long and people always do this and hurt the coral. I use it for 4 min to 8 or 10 min depending on the coral. I use all different kinds of dips depending on which corals i am dipping.
Coral rx on montis
Tmpcc on zoanthids
Revive, bayer, coral rx or melafix depending on the sps

for what its worth, these dips are not really designed to medicate for any kind of parameter issues. if anything they will only stress them out even more.

What does meal fix do for an Sps dip?

That's what I was thinking. Why dip a stressed coral if the dip won't help with the cause of the stress? In my limited experience, best thing to do is get things stable and ride it out. The other thing to keep in mind is there is a lag between the problem and the signs of stress. There is also a lag in the time of improvement. What that means is it can take several weeks before you'll see any signs of improvement, and several months for a complete recovery. It's important to not press the panic button too soon.

Melafix is a natural dip which is less harsh than revive. Its not sold as a dip but a treatment for something. Its like tea tree oil or something from what i remember. It works good but since bayer is discovered there is no need for it unless you cant find bayer. I was using melafix because you can get it at petsmart when the lfs are out of real coral dips.

Great advice - I did notice that sps don't show instant stress when alk is fluctuating.

Live and learn.
