Coral Size Explosion

Hello,

I am currently running a 100 gallon reeftank, using the berlin method (Only a CPR backpak skimmer).

The tank has been up for approximately 1.5 years. I only dosed the tank with calcium for the first 3 months, and then stopped completely. I have not added ANY additives to the tank for the past 8 months.

I have noticed something amazing, my corals are growing at alarming rates. They are almost growing themselves out of the tank.

2 Star Polyp clusters, which began extemely small, are growing and spreading ALL over my liverock. They are spreading so fast, they will soon cover the entire rockscape.

I don't know whether this is a good thing or a bad thing. One thing is for sure...Im gonna need a bigger tank here soon.

How could my corals be growing so rapidly, without any calcium or additives at all?

Interesting... Have you measured any water parameter lately?
How often do you do water changes?

star ployps naturally spread like wildfire. Green star polyps will grow crazily if you have good light and water paramiters, you would put kalk on the parts where you want it to die, or try to scrape it off, but from what you say kalk sounds li kthe best option
