coral skeleton

All,

My coral skeleton is starting to recede and i'm not sure why. The coral it self looks healthy. I've been looking at using a coral booster (Coral Booster by Korallen-Zucht) iv'e read that it works good with flatworm stop which i haven't seen in the tank not saying i don't have any (guessing).

My water levels are not perfect and i'm getting ready to start a 2 part dos but i don't trust my results from my test kit. I'm going to have my LFS test before i start the dosing.

Temp = 78
SP= 1.028
PH = 8.8 ( just did a water change yesterday)
ALK = 6.0
Ca = 360

You just answered your own question.. Your levels are out of whack/probably fluctuating and you can't trust test results..
SP should be 1.025-1.026
ALK should be 7-11 (9 is perfect IMO)

Don't waste your money with anything but 2 part (and mag) at this point to get your alk/cal/mag correct.. Get your levels correct then maintain them..
Stability is key..

Go slow.. Learn before you act.. Stability..Stability..Stability..

How long has it been in the tank? If it's only a couple of days old then it could just be stressed out.

Is that the only coral in the tank? If so I doubt you'd need to dose 2-part yet. Water changes should replace whatever the coral is using up.

Getting your parameters under control is definitely priority number one, but unless my eyes are deceiving me that looks more like a hole in the skeleton as opposed to it receding. What exactly do you have in your tank? Did it take a tumble down the reef slope at all? Have you checked it for pests at night? FWIW I don't think your parameters being out of whack caused that.

Thanks all,

The coral has been in the tank coming up on a year in April. The tank will be 1 year in February. It has never fallen from that spot and I have not seen any pest on it.

In the tank I have the following corals: No others have issues.
Torch (coral in question)
RBTA
3 Acans
Duncan
Sun Coral
poly zoa
Trumpet/Candy Cane
frog spawn
GSP
pulsing xenia
Pipe Organ (has a sponge growing on it. discussion over another post)
