Coral Spawning ..... Now Babies!

Grizzled & Cynical
I have periodically noted that my tank get all cloudy at night. Happens every few months, that I notice, at least. Only explanation I could come up with was that of coral spawning. Tonight, I'm looking at my tank and I see what looks like tiny coral colonies growing on the back glass, mainly along the top near the water line. Has anyone had this experience? Since I don't have multiple colonies of the same species, are individual polyps within a colony male and female? I didn't think they were, but unless I've got an immaculate conception thing going, am at something of a loss to explain. Little colonies are too small to photograph for now.

Edit: a little research reveals that most corals are hermaphrodites, guess that explains things.

Funny you should say that. I have a large colony that was sold to me as montipora digitata but I always thought it looked more like pocillopora. Why? Does it tend to spawn more readily than other kinds of SPS?

no its worse!!! get it out. It will grow in your overflows pipes ect ect and you will indeed regret ever adding it to your tank.

Can you post a pic? Curious what could be worse than aptasia or majano. I assumed it was my anemones spawning. That's the only thing iv caught in the act.

The main colony is the one just to the right of the middle of the photo, towards the back.

Sprouting colonies are too small for my limited camera.
