I actually saw 30 yard x 30 yard "fields" of this coral while diving in Bonaire a few months back. Its amazing to see that much SPS that we covet so much. I noticed too that a lot of it didn't look healthy...at least not as healthy as it should be. I was right, there is something going wrong with corals...what a shame. Thanks for the article.
I saw "fields" of both elkhorn and staghorn dead while diving in Puerto Rico last August. It looked like a huge boneyard and was rather eerie. All other corals seemed to be thriving. I will be going back to PR next month for 2 weeks and it will be interesting to see if I note any more dieoff. Very sad indeed. Thanks for the link.
