muttley, I know how you feel but do not panic there is a significant update coming. The activities over the next two weeks will be as actioned packed as the tank arrival in the beginning! The ongoing dialog will heat up with some of the items still to be resolved in the fish room. I can say however that the progress in the last couple of days has been very exciting for me on several fronts.............More on this reeeeeely soon. Thanks for your patience.

Peter

Peter, I will say you have not let us down yet!

Thank you artur, welcome to the community. I have just finished a 70% (440 gal) water change for the live rock temp storage tanks. The rock is colourful, and does NOT smell bad. The SW is 1.025 on the button and the temp is 76 F. The fishroom equipment arrives tomorrow.............

Update...... Pic intensive.

Update...... Pic intensive.

It has been a while since the last major update and I apologize to all those patient members of this fantastic community for the wait. A number of activities have been going on including the building of the fish room as well as the equipment acquisition greatly impacted I might add by comments and advice coming from a number of the members of this group. And lets not forget keeping the live rock 'live'! So going back, briefly to the beginning, lets check out the fish room or as I now call it .........

This is a small closet under the stairs that serves as an access port under the tank. I did not want to have access from the fish room as I wanted to isolate noise, humidity, heat from the main display tank.

I remember when I was asked for an update in the middle of this and I honestly didn't know where to begin.......this was the early state of chaos.

some of the plumbing that would not require maintenance would be buried in the walls otherwise all salt water fixtures and transport would be surface mounted. This is also true for electrical.

Any copper pipe, clamps or connectors does NOT carry tank water just in case anyone is paying close attention.

This is where the fan will be mounted to create the negative air pressure for the cabinet over the tank into the fish room.

Its clear that the two tanks for the RO/DI will not fit here so I decided to use an adjacent room for salt water production.

I wanted to insulate the walls as much as possible for noise and heat containment.

John from DQI was responsible for assuring me that noise and moisture would stay where it was supposed to.

I have to tell John to measure BEFORE we put up the dry wall.

We agreed that we would do our best to make the fish room an active part of the total aquarium experience........hence the marble. It also is extremely effective as a noise barrier.

This is the equipment sled base with a metal frame. It is unbelievably strong and very very heavy....
