The electrical panels are very nice!

I can't wait to see "significant progress"!!!!

lol do you have any idea how much work is involved in wiring up panels like that? hahahahah alot more than filling a tank with water that's for sure. I think you will thank yourself later for those peter.

Oh on the panel discussion, what ever happened to getting a controller to run your system and pumps? Did you give up on that?

Rob

I'm thinking very seriously about attending the MACNA in Orlando in Sept. Is this event appropriate for the hobbyist or is it geared more to the suppliers?

All opinions are welcome and appreciated.

Peter

I went there two years ago, it was very, very informative, great people and great speakers. -- Highly recomended. { at first when I registered from Bolivia, they wondered what the %#*&^, and then when I showed up well it was great!!! }

No Rob, I haven't given up. In fact we are not too far off returning to that subject one more time. I think it was important to have the primary basics in place first. When the second closed loop system arrives we will then know what we have to work with. This community will probably guarantee that I end up with a little bit of everything. I still haven't seen anything that covers the bases. The technology seems to be in a state of flux.

Thanks crazy, I have decided to attend this year for sure. It sure does not look like it will do any harm and I might even get a chance to say hi to a few members of this community.

sorry I haven't been posting as much. Its my busy season for work. Although don't worry I am reading a long. At this point I can only read and learn because this is sooo much more advanced then my 90 gallon.

P.S I think we should all agree that I get a 5% marketing fee for bringing up the book idea. Mr. Wilson already has about 300 pre orders. Mr. Wilson you write the book, I'll get it in chapters. All I ask is you make me a tank like Peters. Actually..... bigger then Peters :inlove:

Peter,
I will be down at MACNA in Orlando and we have a whole group from Atlanta going down as well. Hope to see you there!

I've never gone to MACNA but I'm hoping to make it this year. I'll be the one in the Wilson shirt. Be sure to say hi.

As long as you can dream it, I'll make sure you see it :)

I went to MANCA 2 years ago very nice and if you stick around on the last day lots of freebies vendors do not want to take back with them.

Aquarium technology is advancing faster than it ever has. We have recently updated pump technology that goes back to the 50's. I heard that a recent aquarium show had somewhere around 35 booths with about 25 of them being Led lighting :) Aquarium controllers will soon catch up with touch screen technology and eventually become a module with an ipad ap. Current controllersare reminicent of the early digital watches with two tiny buttons that you push repeatedly to read codes on a minute screen. For the first time in our reefkeeping history energy conservation is a focused concern. On top of all this, off shore knock offs and outsourcing are dropping prices to an alltime low. Too bad we don't have jobs in the industry here in North America anymore :(

I always skipped the MACNA conferance. I helped set up the Kent Marine booth in Toronto around 1993-94, but I didn't bother attending. The reports always showed the same vendors selling the same stuff year aftr year with a few over hyped gymicks that are in the landfill now, but I am confident that I'm finally ready to be impressed :)

I had a blue ring octopus shipped to me in a large order from Indonesia one time as a surprise substitute. Yes, I was really surprised when I put my hand in the bag and tried to figure out what the dead blob was. Even though it was dead, I was still shocked when I figured out what I was holding in my bare hand :) Another reason for rubber gloves... and reading the packing list closely :)

they are stunning like life the most beautiful things can be the most dangerous i had a mate come over from the uk and we went out to the local national park he saw a red belly black snake ,couple of blue ringed ocs and a guy fishing on the rocks caught a hammerhead shark poor bugger didn't sleep for a week heehheh.back to the blue ring the risk of being bitten is as rare as hens teeth its common for shark attacks but not blue ring bites .
