First Thank You for taking the time to share this incredible project with all of us. I've enjoyed watching the progress (including the trails and tribulations) on a daily basis.

To echo Jimbo7's comments, I sincerely hope you include LEDs in your lighting considerations. A project of this magnitude, with the resources and research being applied could not only result in a spectacular lighting result, but help advance the entire field of marine LED lighting. Truthfully, I couldn't imagine anything other than LED or Plasma (once the color issues are resolved) being utilized on this type of project.

Also, if I might inquire into your selection of the Profilux controller. I'm curious if you compared it's capabilities to the Apex system and what specifically led you to choose the Profilux over the Apex (price points aside.)

Thanks again for including all of us in your "adventure."

As one who is running plasmas in a display tank (2 290W Stray Light Optical Seashines over a 150G) I am very interested to see how your light testing plays out.

Took a while to read through this, but you are doing a great service to the hobby to share the experience.

I was thinking about the lighting for this system last night (sick isn't it?) and as luck would have it, the thread conversation has just turned in that direction!

I originally was under the impression that you would be using metal halides over the display and LEDs over the other tanks, but I think my question may still be valid. You will probably have fantastic coral growth, and I am also going to assume that many changes will be made to the coral placements for quite some time.

If it is your intention to move corals back and forth between the display and other tanks, how will they respond to being placed under drastically different types of lighting? Even if intensities are matched, the light spectrum itself differs wildly between individual metal halide bulbs, let alone the way it must differ between plasmas and LEDs. I'm sure this is no news to any of you, but I wonder if the phenomenon had at least been discussed.

This is an interim update with an intention to continue a real time photo journal of the process to get the live rock into the display tank.

First after the summit to halt the build and re-engineer the fish room and plumbing under the tank we removed virtually all the materials and started again.....

Peter, I don't suppose this destruction was a result of suggesting the bear room be converted into another fish room? My wife would have done the same.

Well since you have had to redo the plumbng section, I think everyone needs a drink.
Here Team 9Ball have one on me

Mr. W would love to meet you all at Macna but unfortunately I can not travel that far. My back is about as bad of shape as the pics of the plumbing you all posted :D
6 herniated 2 bulging and degenerative in 80% of my back. Really is a downer for me considering I drove a truck for 18 years legally logged over 2.5 million miles been up in your alls neck of the woods several times...now I cant set in a car for more than 1 hour with out hving to get out and walk around and stretch some. Nowdays a 3 hour trip can become a 5 or 6 hour trip.

Hi Peter,

I know you have heard this countless of times before through this 150 pages. But honestly, i applaud your attention to very detail to ensure every aspect of this tank & fish room is extremely well covered. This is one of the best build I have ever came across and I'm hooked the moment I came across this in RC.

Good luck to you and hope to see the sand in the tank soon!

Cheers,
Ray

After my tank split this is the one of very few threads I read anymore and man you guys blow me away! Peter, Mr.Wilson, and The Grimm brother my hat is off to you guys! I will be lurcking in the back ground and this tank Im sure will have been my inspiration to get back in the Hobby. Best of luck and God speed. YOUR GOING TO NEED IT !!!

Simply amazing

Simply amazing

Hi Peter, Mr Wilson, and the rest of the community:

I would like to say this has been a fantastic journey so far. I have gained tremendous amount of information and knowledge from this amazing build. it has taking me 4 month on and off to finish this thread, 2 kids 2 jobs and a 210 gallon tank really takes up a lot of time. Now that I have "finished it" I like to thank Peter for giving me the opportunity to share this wonderful experience with you.

Keep up the good work!

Richard

Here's the latest and almost final flow plan. The closed loop plumbing is complete but we are still trying to engineer our surface motion and sump return flow with a lot of help from Paul at OceansMotions.

I never did find out how to reduce the size of the file without making it blurry. My photo bucket and mobile me accounts won't accept PDFs as images even if I can reduce the size.

* Sorry, I spotted a few missed details. BacK up soon

Glad to hear you guys decided to contact Paul.

Just saw this link in the GHL section and took the past day and a half to read through it..... Great attention to detail, cant wait to see the finished outcome. Im sure its been said many many times, but nothing good in this hobby happens fast, so taking the time to get it all right now is a good thing..... Its also good to see people using the proper blue glue on the spa-flex. :D

I know my answer to this was talking to local people who had problems with their apex'es and RKE's, had to send them back for repairs already, having issues with them, etc. I'm still using my PII from 2 years ago, but hope to upgrade to the PIII in the future. No need to buy an entirely new controller, just send it in and get new boards installed for a third (approx.) of the price. The fact that it has been controlling tanks for over two years without so much as a hiccup is the reason I went with it.

I'm suprised you didnt go with one since you use AI lighting, those lights with a Profilux can do AMAZING things....

good choice on the profulux controller,i find it very accurate,
ive been using it since it came out,i was the first and probably the only one to have a defective powerbar, no one can compare to mike's customer service.
something i thought of doing was using the moon cycle but never got around to it,i think it may be a great addition and using LED's for the moon cycle would be perfect.
is your mangrove wall going to have a automatic mister to come on once a day or is that a job for peters wife.

I just got a simu-l for mine, cant wait to get it hooked up and play around with it.... :D

I'm concerned about the amount of in-tank plumbing in the corner, which is going to be one of the prime viewing places. Plumbing is not pretty, and Mr. Wilson is a master at hiding it, but this looks like a real challenge specifically around the 45* rotation devices, which I would think, would need to be mostly exposed to rotate.

Any thoughts on this or is this part of the secret sauce?

All I can say is that this is one awesome built. Well done Peter. One huge thread to read thru though. I'll do the last 35 pages on Sunday when the weather is bad and off shore fishing is out of the question...lol

Lol :D
Best I can do is the 18 yr old. Would love a 25 yr old but the price of the 25yr old give my a wallet and me a Heart attack. The diff in price is kind of scary.

The best thing about 18 yr old mcallan is the company it comes with and that my friend is priceless.

Truth is, I will take good company and a Barqs root beer and be very very content. Cpl, I appreciate the kindness and goodwil with the sentiment.

Quick update....

It's getting late and I am tired. There is a lot that has happened in the last two days thanks to Mr. Wilson, the bros Grimm and John from DQI. I have lots of pictures and info. I will post tomorrow.
