I can sub in on the weekends so the full-timers get a break too, just need travel expenses reimbursed.

I'm versed in saltwater tanks with my share of of water spills. I also know Koi ponds and landscaping so that will make the Mrs. happy...just don't make me babysit the teddy bears is all I ask ;)

I also am well versed in the 1/4 mile at the drag strip and also with sactioned autocrossing and road racing. You won't need to worry one bit about the car as she will be in good hands!

Oh, I like wine too but am pretty fond of the red icewines!

Gee wiz Sara, I forgot you were still out there........this is going to make my life very difficult. One of the best kept secrets on the planet is just how good the red ice wine varietals are. I don't know where you are getting your education but if you are as well versed in all the other arts you are going to make my life very complicated. You are NOT thinking of the Bentley in the quarter mile........

Peter

wow the "f" word truly is a bad word. Just reading all about your f$#&@&, I actually went downstairs to make sure everything was ok with my tank. I tend to find better things to do after I turn on my RO and then forget its running. I notice it usually the next day when its time for feeding. I have done that so many times that sometimes I swear, I wake up in the middle of the night and run downstairs thinking I left the water running, when I didn't even use the RO that day....... why do we do this to our selves:crazy1:

On my final business trip to Toronto in February I picked up a bottle of the Inniskillin Cabernet Franc red ice wine at the duty free shop in the airport. We drank it over Memorial Day and it was to die for!!! Too bad I was not coming back to get more! I need to try and find some locally down here in Chicago.

No, the Bentley is not my idea of a 1/4 mile car ... I was just letting you know that I know how to handle cars too!

The best ice wine available today comes from local Niagra vineyards.....especially the blends. Keep us in the loop if you make it up to Toronto and we will have a bottle or two set aside. Nothing is too good for Peter's fish room girls........

I'm sure it's nothing like our Niagara ice wines, but they do produce some in Michigan on "The West Coast". I think they may have some in Indiana by Lake Michigan as well.

Good to know there is another perfect woman out there besides my Elizabeth. SaraB, I'll be getting in touch with you if things don't work out between her and I. Just a heads up!

Good luck figuring out the pump issue, Peter. I know the suspense is killing all of us, I can't imagine what it's doing to you!

Thank you fewskillz, my instincts tell me that the soon to be released solution will be a welcome surprise to this community, especially the long termers who were around the campfire on this issue early in this thread.

Also I agree with your assessment of sara's net worth in this domain. It seems to me that women involved in this hobby are a notch above the norm. I wonder if it's in the salt???

Just an idea if you have a holding container use the float for a swamp cooler.

LOL, not sure what my husband will think of that ;)

I do have to agree that the ladies that are involved in this hobby are surely not the norm!!!

When I had my old tank I had a small container tha thad a float switch on it for the RO water. If I forgot to turn off the feed to the tank the float switch would shut off th efeed once it was full. Worked like a charm and saved me the middle of the night runs :spin3: I also had the RO tank feeding to the sump with another float switch so that it would auto top up the sump when the water got low. The only thing I had to remember to do was to once a week fill the RO holding container

Got to love the Automatic stuff but you jsut hav eto make sure you have some fail safe so you don't flood your tank with new RO water before it is time

Hehe, I would like to know what's "practical" about keeping a 3000 gal reef tank! It's a beauty though.

Scott

What, you have a problem with 60 gallons per day evaporation :) That's as much water as you would have in a 100 gallon reef tank when you consider rock displacement.

I like the tank a whole bunch and we seem to share a great deal of similar philosophy on a number of issues. It would be very interesting to share notes. He has phenomenal experience to have produced such an awesome marine ecosystem or ecosystems to be more exact.

Thank you for the link K.Sweeney, its absolutely bang on!

Next dumb question to the group ......

Next dumb question to the group ......

Since I have the ability, due to the investment in dedicated HVAC, HRV and air conditioning, and I have the luxury of being able to pick and choose my room temp and humidity for my fish room separate from the house environment.

Ideally, what should my room temperature be and what should the humidity be?
