Coral War?

What's going on here between my brain and knob coral? At first I thought one of my anemones took a walk and stung both these guys, but all six are still in their place. I also never noticed long tentacles / polyps on either of these two corals"¦the brain only comes out about a ¼ inch. Any thoughts? FYI, this picture was taken with moonlights only, since the T5's haven't come on yet.

Yup, that's war. To me, it looks like the chalice (?) on the right is spanking the favia (?) on the left. The cure for this is greater space between them.

I would also suggest gently tapping the threads with something to cause them to retract back to their owner. They are literally dissolving the flesh of the victim and the sooner you stop that, the better.

I find dipping the victim in an iodine preparation helps to slow / prevent recession from the sting area, although those stings are mighty powerful.

I think that coral on the right might be a hydnophora. VERY aggresive coral..

Agreed, looks like hydnophora to me too. I have a silver/bluish green one I placed next to some mushrooms but I hasn't done anything to them yet.
