Coralife Aqualight worth refurbishing?

Hello!

I recently picked up a reef tank and they guy just gave me a Coralife Aqualight. Thing is it is not in the best condition. Do you think it would be worth trying to revamp or just purchase a new light?

Areas of concern:

Bulbs MH - Work not sure on age
Bulbs CFL - Work not sure on age
Moon - Protective cover broken 2/3 working

Other:

Fixture - Good but looks like it may have gotten a bit wet (Rust minimal)
Fans - Work
Ballast - Appear to be newish

I think it comes down to upfront cost and long term savings. Not that the fixture's bad or not worth it, but if you have to replace a significant amount of lamps, bulbs, and hardware, an investment into an LED solution may likely be better. The LEDs themselves last much, much longer and the power/electricity savings you'll see immediately.

Something to think about.

Funny you should mention that I have been looking at some Reef Breeders LED Fixtures today. Any fixture recommendations for a 90 gallon tank?

Noticed you are from SV as well :wavehand:

I picked up 3 of the controllable LED units at the new shop in Tucson and am real happy with them! They have them displayed on all of their coral flats and have demonstrated good growth in a short period of time. The price was good too!
