Coralife BioCube 29g Build

My ammonia was hanging around 0.8ppm Saturday and Sunday. I did a 5g PWC Sunday. Last night ammonia was 0, so I checked Nitrite and Nitrate levels. Nitrite was 0.8ppm and Nitrate was 15ppm. Looks like the cycle is progressing nicely.

I fed the tank some reef frenzy, which should create ammonia, so will see today if it is still 0 and check nitrites and nitrates again.
 
With all that live rock, I'm betting you won't see much of a cycle. I started with all live rock, and my cycle took only a couple days, but I still waited a couple weeks before adding any CUC. I just wanted to make sure everything was in check, and I had my husbandry down tight.

Need to figure out when to ask for the second shipment from TBS. We are about to put down new flooring in our kitchen, and that will mean moving lots of "stuff" into the dining room right next to the tank. It would be better if I could get the second shipment in before tearing the house apart, but not sure my levels will be in check quickly enough.
 
Sounds like your levels are already mostly in check. I can bring over (or you can run to ace hardware) some ammonia so we could do a real test by raising ammonia and giving it 24 hours to cycle through.

Considering the size of the tank and the amount of rock you got though I would imagine that the cycle is pretty much done at this point. Even if you get in the next batch of rock the worst case is that you will need to do a few more water changes. The CUC included will be adding ammonia to the tank anyway.

It will take the tank a solid month to really start to stabilize though which is perfect for the qt period of your first fish. For your first corals you could add them within that month most likely after all values are stable. I might have an acan frag for you and perhaps a rescue frogspawn that you could try in your tank. I might consider fragging my torch so you could have a head or two but I will need to thinkt hat one over HA HA. GSP galore if you want it though HA HA.

I have some heads of ricordea coming in too which should be splitting in the next month or so. I will keep a couple of them depending on the colors they have but will be giving either you or Mike the others.
 
+1 to Soulpatch. Cycle seems mostly done, and you'll get another little one with part 2. I think by the time you get part 2 it'll be over and done with.

I may schedule the 2nd part of my shipment for Saturday. Soulpatch, are you around?

My house is going to be a mess with us redoing the kitchen, but I think we can work around it.

I have two soccer games for kids until about 1pm, and would still have to go pickup the shipment at PHL, so it would be later in the day for certain.

I'll keep you posted.
 
So jealous of you 2. There is no one within 50 miles of me that is a reefer for those extra set of hands once in a while. I can bribe some of my friends to help if I make dinner, but then I have to cook and not do reefing things.
 
Well if you would like to drive down when I finally order in my tank to give another set of hands to move the beast you are more then welcome...You can grab reefer on your way down.
 
Finally had some time and read through your whole thread. Looking great so far, and I love that your using the TBS rock. I was reading all about "The Package" earlier this morning.

How is the RODI working out? I know we was speaking about it a couple of days ago. Have you set up your QT yet?
