Coralife RO/DI question

Is there a different membrane that I can put into this unit coralife Pure-Flo II 50GPD. I just replaced the membrane and I still get a TDS reading of .2 so I was wondering if a new membrane or better unit is what is called for.

Thanks!

Whats the TDS of the input water? Even the best membranes under really good conditions are only like 97% so getting a reading of .2 is pretty good. You could just add a DI stage at the end to remove that final bit.

Sorry my response has been late in coming, been a crazy weekend here.

The TDS of input water was only in the 245 range the last I checked. Now by adding a DI stage at the end are you saying another DI stage as the unit already has one DI stage? (As before every stage-3 stages plus the membrane are new within the last 2 weeks)

Yes you can replace that 50gpd membrane with any residential ro membrane. The GE one that came with my unit(same as yours) only rejected 90% out of the box. I replaced it with a Dow 75gpd from BRS. The new membrane rejects 97%. Starting at 250ppm 7% is alot.
I suspect most of your problem is from Coralife's DI resin cartridges. Mine were never full or packed tight and the plastic packaging won't protect resin from CO2 in the air which will deplete the resin over time. I suggest getting a refillable cartridge and resin from BRS or the like, there resin has lasted alot longer ie. full carts and tightly sealed resin.

James, I appreciate the information!!!

By chance do these have part numbers or the like or are they one size fits as far as DI cartridges. I would definitely like to do this!

Not to mention is there anything special to filling the cartridge, I have never seen this done.
