So saturday I installed a coralife pure flo 2 float and shut off valve. After testing it I filled my water container checked it the next day and all was well.

I went to the basement this morning and there was about 5 gallons of water on the floor. So long story short the float valve failed after about three days.

Are you supposed to shut of the water to the RODI after your water container is full.

I shut mine off manually.

Of course this has failed 3 times in the last few weeks....since I keep forgetting....

So don't feel bad. Your not the only one to have flooded floors this month...lol

My wife is starting to get annoyed.

I blamed it on Coors Light...:D

She recommended a timer or something downstairs. Will prob take her advice.

The float valve and associated shutoff switch is supposed to shutoff the water enabling you to keep your RO setup permanently plumbed and "on". If you just put in a float switch, I don't think that switch is capable of stopping the pressure that the system will build up over time being off.

Do yourself the biggest favor and toss it in the garbage, I"M SERIOUS. Same thing happened to me and I got rid of it quick. Go with one of the float valves on eBay. BRS has them too, but for what its worth eBay is quicker at shipping.

It looks like this:

Its almost all plastic with the exception of a cotter pin but it never touches water. Just search on eBay for "Float Valve All Plastic Reef Aquarium Sump RO/DI Water Filter Reverse Osmosis"

I bought the Coralife float valve because of brand an liked the look of it. Yeah, its china made garbage for sure. The one I got hasn't failed once and I've used it a handful of times. The construction is simple and it just works.

Thats how I ended up buying it and she was not very happy when she found the water on the floor again.
