Coralife skimmer mod.

I have a Coralife skimmer 125, the pump did not work well it could not pull air in after while so I use air pump to supply air, still I was looking for way to improve it.
I use one of my old Rio 2100 since it rated for other similar skimmer, drill a hole on the intake side put an air tube in cut the end of tube at an angle to create venture effect. Next took the needle wheel out of the pump came with skimmer, cut the round end off about Ã"šÃ‚¼Ã¢â"šÂ¬Ã‚ to get it same size with Rio impeller, install the pump and it work great, it pull air strong lots of micro bubble fill almost whole skimmer and produces good skimmate.
After few days I want to see can the pump handle more air, so I hook up the air pump WOW !! the skimmer went nut, micro bubble turbulent fill solid in the skimmer, came out thicker form and darker skimmate, been running for 48 hrs with amazing result, just thought I share this with others using Coralife skimmer.

Sorry I did not take pic of the needle wheel and pump, but this pic show where I drill the hole for the air tube, it very simple.

Where exactly did you drill the hole? Is it where the tube is at? I am having the same problem. Do you know if the skimmer has to be straight up and down. I have a small sump and it is leaning on the back. Thanks for any help

Yes, I the hole where the tube is, the skimmer body is stand up, look at the first pic, good luck.
