coraline algae cleanup

I have a lot of coraline algae in the front of my tank. I wanted coraline algae for so long that I let it grow so I could see it every day. Now it´s time to clean the front glass. Can I have a problem if I clean the entire glass on one shot, or should I do it progressively. Would it be better to do it just before a water change?
Thanks for any suggestion.

i dont know if it will cause anything other than more coraline growth. scraping it or brushing it will cause the spores to spread.

you can get a paint scraper at hd for under $10. it's about 4-5 inches long and makes the job super easy. be sure to get the one that has the replacable razor blade.

or your'e fingers and hands if you have a long spined urchin that your'e not paying attention to! ouch! been there, done that, got the t-shirt. and the sore swollen finger! actually i have done this twice in one week. doh! maybe i'll learn after the third time.

a simple diy tool that works great.. cut a 45 degree angle slit in a length of 1/2" pvc with a hacksaw, dremel or other thin cutting tool, and wedge a straight razor in the slit (try to get decent stainless steel blades though).

not a problem. there seems to be a whole lot of "gadgets" in this hobby, most that are probably useless or uncalled for but this gadget is actually one that works so well and makes cleaning coralline about as close to easy as it gets. hope you like it.

I found this link of the easy blade with video included looks functional since it goes on top of magnet. thanks for the tip.
