coraline algae

so i have been offshore for a long time been home about 2 weeks now so of course its time for a water change and tank cleaning since it has not had it in a month....

the side glass is COVERED with beautiful purple coraline and as i am scraping it off i just kept thinking that when i first started this tank i could NOT wait to get some of the purple stuff and now that it is ALL OVER the glass i wish it would just grow on the rocks and not the glass :(

with that said a NOTE to ALL NEWBIES....DON'T try to rush the purple coraline because it will come in time and you will grow to hate it because of the pain in the neck it causes trying to clean your glass...and the more you scrap off the faster and MORE return

just thought i would share since i had to take a break from the scraping....any ideas how to get it off easier

You could bag it and give it to a friend to seed their live rock with coraline. Like me!
I will be putting my old rubbermaid 300 in the back yard to get my rock going with a some color. GARF sells GRUNGE, but I'd bet your stuff is better.
Any thoughts?

I picked up a scraper kit at home depot and it had a long flat razor scraper in it. It mowed the coraline off the side of my new frag tank like you wouldnt believe.

i had one of those long aquarium scrapers...i did some damage but got wore out never got it all off just a big whole in the center of it on the side glass to look through...lol....next water change i will have some more i can send to you...it took me about 4 hours today to do my water change, rearrange and clean the tank

Getting ready to move everybody/ everything from a 300 gallon rubbermaid to a 400 gallon round. Anybody wanna help?
