I have a reef tank up for about 5 months now, and not a hint of coraline algae. I use ceramic rock that was never in a reef before. There was no coraline anywhere on anything that I have added to the tank, so I am thinking I need to seed it? Will purple-up do that, or is that mostly just calcium and other elements that feeds coraline? I dont really want to add in any LR that can bring in other pests. Whats the best way to go about seeding the tank?
How about some snails from LFS that have coraline on their shells? Then scrape off coraline from their shells while in the tank to spread the spores?
