i have what appears to be coralline growing above the sand line of my acrylic tank. problem is, this will not scrape off.

it's not as opaque as other sections of coralline. what is it? and how do i remove it?

Is it glass or acrylic? Don't use a metal razorblade on acrylic. They sell plastic versions for that. BTW, feed that longnose more...looking skinny :)

just got the longnose last thursday, yes he is skinny, but he is eating really good, even flakes.

i used a formica sample from the home depot, this is what i found works best on scraping coralline from acrylic, but it does not take this off. almost like it's burned into the surface or something, some kind of chemical reaction? all coral and fish have been OK, this started about mid summer. didn't think too much about it, i'm busy doing outside stuff, and figured to work on this in the fall, well, won't come off and it looks like crap.

if i can't get it off, is it safe to add sand to this corner? the flow has washed sand away. if i put new sand in and cover with pieces of live rock to hold it there, that would cover it up.

so - noone has had this problem before?

I had coralline etch my acrylic tank before. Even after I finally scraped the coralline off, it left a white "foggy" look to the acrylic. Perhaps that is what happened here?
