Corals and Nutient Levels

I have a biocube 29 and have recently installed a algae scrubber to help deal with some algae issues. I have soft and Lps corals including sinularia, mushroom leather, favia, and frogspawn. Right now my nitrates are about 5ppm and my phosphates are at 0. I'd like to get my nitrates down to 0, but will this affect my corals? I've heard that soft and Lps corals prefer slightly elevated nutrient levels. If they will be affected, will they just not grow as fast or will they actually die? Can you keep soft and lps in very low nutrient tanks? Thanks for the help!

I keep softies in my SPS dominated reef tank, but I need to feed the corals a few times a week to keep their color up.
