Corals for begginer?

+1 to spork3245 shrooms take over, xenias I feel are even worse when it comes to spreading I took mine out and gave them away thought I was rid of them. Just today when I looked in the tank two little baby heads of xenia are on my rock :headwally:.

Yea, xenia are the worst due to how they spread. At least discosomas mushrooms can be isolated by keeping the rock(s) they're on a few inches away from your other/main island(s).

Letting the easy-grow species onto your permanent rockwork is a bad idea if you will want to have more 'advanced' corals later. They WILL survive high light, so you can't rid yourself of them with brighter light. And if scraped off, they reproduce. That said, they can make a pretty tank and they can co-exist with fish that would eat fancier corals. The invasive corals are generally unappetizing to some fish that are coral nippers.
