corals need mh??

ive been looking for new t5 lights for my tank and i generally browse the corals at the pet store while im there and every coral i look at it seems mostly sps the employee is like mh mh you want mh is this true or would t5 be ok or is he trying to make a sell or what

It depends on the tank size and fixture/setup as well as desired livestock. THere are many,many reefers (including myself) who have thriving reef tanks (with sps) under T5. Dont get me wrong, MH are fantastic IMO but definately not your only choice when deciding on lighting for a reef.

i have a 36 gal and was looking at a t5 fixture with 4 24 watt bulbs how would that work
