corals with sea horse?

I have heard that seahorses are naturally attracted to colt corals and loooove them.

unless a coral has strong sweepers i think most will be fine with seahorses. i'm just hoping mine doesn't get stuck in the clam. she's had her tail inside it, i just hope the clam never shuts on her.

i have a small about 2 inch ocean surgeon that regularly picks at the seahorse. she doesn't like it, but doesn't seem any worse for it. only does it for a few seconds then goes away. keeps the algae off her back i guess.

Your welcome. Worked on the thing for almost a year, might as well plug it when I can.
I've kept cleaners with seahorses too and didn't have many problems at first, but tended to later on.
The cleaners would pursuit the seahorses to clean them, and often times it was unwelcomed. You could actually see the increased respiration in the seahorses if you paid attention. There weren't visible wounds by any means but it was stressful.
Originally when the cleaners were in the tank they setup shop in one portion of the tank and hung out there. The seahorses would avoid the area and preffered the other side of the tank. Later on I figured out why.
I did quite a bit of research on experiences of other seahorse keepers when tracking the ratings for the different species and found many seahorse keepers had issues with the cleaners. I even found a picture of a seahorse cleaning the inside of a seahorses pouch and read of reports of cleaners stilling fry and causing seahorses to abort there pregnancies. How much of that is valid as opposed to just ancedotal is up for debate, however based on my experience and seeing that it was a common one I gave tehm a 3.
In the article there is a written portion that gives an outline to the rating system. 3's are pretty much some times it works , somtimes it doesn't, I'd never do it myself.

Wow, thanks for that info Kevin. I will definitely reconsider the cleaners now. Come to think of it, my horses tended to stay on the opposite side as well.
Bullitr, I think a 175 MH would be overkill in a 24 gal. with only softies and zoas. Save yourself the headache of dealing with higher temps and go with the PCs. Everything you've listed should do fantastic under them.

I'd ditch the 175w MH too. If you need the shimmer you can get away with a 70w, will be less heat and less intense. T5's are a great option to, but if you get a 30" tank like the 30g tall, then you will need to run the 24" T5's as they are currently not making a 30" HOT5 bulb as far as I know.
There is no hardy dwarf yellow seahorse . . . It's hard to sell seahorses by color, since they can change there color on a whim.
A dwarf seahorse is fairly small, around an inch, and requires special care. They would not do well in the tank you described.
Reidi and Kuda are both often sold as "yellow seahorse" and aquacultured speciments are available through seahorsesource.com
