i have a 250 watt elec ballast that was working fine till a storm a few days back which we lost power. now it will not fire or even the fan doesnt start. does anyone know by chance if there is a fuse inside that might have blown or is it fried? only used it for mabe 3 months:-/

email them. I had issue with my coralvue ballast a couple months back, won't fire suddenly and it's under warranty. They sent me a new replacement without question asked!

If its the older style (square silver aluminum box with a fan) there is a fuse where the power cord attaches to the ballast box. Youll have to pull the cord from the ballast to access the fuse compartement below where the cord plugs into

I got the new model as replacement, it seems it's running cooler as it's not as hot when I touch it.

Are the new style Coralvue ballasts (blue, no fan) , better or worse than the old style?

I have not used teh newer style, so I cant comment. I know that they are sealed in an epoxy so they will run cooler and also cause less interference with X-1os, reefkeepers, etc.
