The Coralvue Hydros is coming in a a couple weeks. I have been a beta tester for many months now. You guys will be impressed by how easy it is to use, automate and monitor your system.

After looking into the Hydros (Control) I am definitely considering it. I haven’t bit the bullet yet but I did buy a bus cable to run through the wall to make it a bit easier on myself if I end up going with it lol. Would be helpful since I would want the wave engine under my display and the control 4 in the fish room/sump area. The biggest drawback for me is no ethernet, my wifi even with a pretty good router scares me from a reliability standpoint. But maybe it isn’t a big deal. I also really liked the Fusion interface of Apex but have had too many reliability issues to continue with them. But being as this is brand new how do we know Hydros will have good/better reliability?

I have been running the Hydros since March. WiFi is only used on the powerstrip. It is not internet depending just local WiFi. I run a WiFi Mesh so I have 2 routers.

I have not had to worry about any issues. So the reliability is good. The more units you add together via a Collective the more redundancy you have.

If you want a bus cable from the main head unit to your sump hydros unit make sure it is a data only bus cable and does not pass power. That way the sump control unit will use its own separate power.

I was going to have a wave engine under the display and power the control 4 from the wave engine via the bus. No good?

You can power the C4 with the Wave engine via the bus.

WaveEngine powers C4 via bus
C4 powers C2 via bus.

Can I ask another question? Is there any functionality difference between the 0-10v ports and the direct drive on the wave engine? Or is it simply a matter of preference/cleaning up the wiring with less power supplies.

0-10 ports allows you on the Wave Engine to use Tunze pump controllers or other type of pump controllers.

On the C4 you can make press buttons or other things using the 0-10. One beta tester made a box with 4 buttons that do various things assigned to each button like a feed mode or water change. Another guy made them to read room humidity and temperature.
