Not sure on LED's yet? Coralvue is offering a combo hood for those of you not ready to switch to LED technology yet. These hoods are offered in 4 and 6 bulb T5 configurations with high power 1w LED's running down the center of the hood. Not only do you get a nice quality T5 hood, you get strong LED to provide additional blue supplements to the tank and add shimmer effect to the water. The LED's are dimmable from the manual control knob on top of the fixture.

Has anyone tried one of these? I'm thinking about getting a 24" one and hanging it above a 30" tank.

I have a 4 x 54w unit hanging over a 75 right now, not bad at all, I"ve been happy with it!

any heat issues? is it possible to remove the cover over the t5s to allow air circulation?

You can run them without the covers if you wish, however I haven't had any heat issues to speak of.

I dont' have any photos of them running over a system right now unfortunately. I will contact Coralvue to see if they have any.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but I was curious if you still liked the coralvue after a couple more months. I'm still in the planning stages and I was considering using them over a couple of 40 gallon breeder tanks.

Yes, the Coralvue fixture has been just fine for us, no issues at all to speak of.

Hey Jeremy, are you happy with the 4x54 or would you go with 6x54 if you had to do it again?

It's on an 18" front to back soft / lps tank and it works just fine. If I were going to be doing more sps / clams I would have gone with the 6 lamp, but for this system the 4 lamp works perfectly.
