Corner tank lighting

Hi :)

I have a running 55 gallon corner tank that was given to us by someone who just gave up on it.

I have worked hard over a couple months to improve it and get the water right.

It has a 4x31w Deep Blue T5 fixture that is perhaps 3-4" inches shy of the corners. (I need to replace the bulbs; I think they are old.) Given the odd shape of the tank, I'm trying to figure out what to do to improve my lighting.

Here is a professional diagram I paid hundreds of dollars for ;)

My problem is that a bigger T5 will basically hang off. Even switching to a 6 bulb T5 leaves the "behind" angle uncovered.

What I'm wondering is if it would make sense to put a single MH fixture in the back to cover the rather large area encompassed by the "?". Something like the Odyssea pendant.

The other issue is that this is right in our living room and I can't have a lot of goofy stuff hanging down from the ceiling; it has to be sort of low-key.

I appreciate your advice :)

What about LEDs for filling in the back corner? One of the multichips could work nicely back there I would think.

I suppose I sort of ignored LEDs because I am still trying to absorb everything necessary to keep what I have alive and healthy, and lighting is just too much to add :lolspin:

I guess if anyone has a small manufactured LED to recommend that would be helpful. I am handy and a DIYer but not when it comes to electronics.

I'm starting to think one of the "Chinese LED" units with a dimmer might be the ticket. First thing I need to do is replace my bulbs and see what happens :0
