This may well be the dumbest question of the day. Can I scrape off some coralline algae from my old tank and seed my new tank. the old tank has been dry for a few months. I should have done it during the switch but didn't think about it. Thanks!

Don't leave it in the air long and you should be fine.

If it has been dry for a few months don't waste your time. Ask a friend or your LFS for some. I am fairly new to this forum but have been in the hobby for years and have had many tanks. Never have seeded for coralline and have always had great coverage. hth

It's not a good idea because of the possible wrong bacteria you may introduce to your tank
