SO..
The other day a line on my intake blew off shortly after getting new lines cause they were old and I thought, hey! Maintance, great idea!!
I use a hob overflow and those nice flex lines you just jam in and forget. So I go to work the next day and realise, hey, I forgot my gym stuff, I should go back for that stuff. So I hop in the car on my lunch to drive home and I get a phone call right when I get in the car, its my roommate asking how to turn off everything in my tank cause there is water everywhere.. uhoh I think.. what happened...
Long story shortened.. One of the spanky new eshopps lines snapped open.. dont know how.. but it did.. showered 3/4 of my power bars cause of the way it broke and sprayed off to one side that shouldnt get wet.. so I go back to the store, they replace them without asking.. and offer me half off a fish.
Those following another thread know I have a stone fish.. but this is a good deal, so I look around. Then I see it, one of my favourite wrasses.. or member of family. A H.Tuskfish. About 1" longer than my stone fish, fat bodied, good swiming habits in the tank, goes straight for food when fed.. im in heaven! I mean its bigger than my stonefish!
Soo.. blah blah blah.. aclimate. blah blah feed.. blah happy.. Next day.
Gone.
Cant find, there is a net topper on my tank so jumping is not a option. Lots of caves but almost everything is visable.. and my stone fish still hasnt moved from his fav spot.
So unless this 6-7" Tusk can hide in 3" caves or somewhere I cant see.. which is maybe less than %3 of my tank.. my stonefish actually ate a fish larger than the length of his body. Im dumbfounded and hoping this fish is actually a better hiding fish than my stone fish and found that one spot I cant see him.. cause really I dont see how it could have happened.. but im at 48 hours of no Tusk.
Must say I wanted to share this story cause general rule of thumbs dont always work. The rule of thumb is a stone fish can eat somthing close to the size of its own body. This guy was I swear approx 1" larger. Was likely a very good $50 meal.
