Hi blakdak
Welcome to the area!
There is a lot going on in SW in this area. DE, PA, and NJ all have great clubs and members. Aside from CA I think this is one of the most active fish areas in the country. We have a great little club in DE going that seems to be growing at each meeting. DE has a few small mom/pop LFS stores, but within a couple of hour drive are some very amazing stores like that fish place (Lancaster) and exotic aquatics (Baltimore).
Quick background on me- I grew up in West Chester PA and have lived in DE for about 10yrs. I was a licensed realtor for about 4yrs, but have since returned to Chemical engineering full timeÂÂc personally I have always found Delaware to be a little odd. I look forward to moving back to PA at some point, but in the mean time, there are plenty of jobs in the area and the cost of living is lower than the surrounding areas. DE is close to just about everywhere- Pocono mountains are about 2hrs away, DE beaches are nice and about 2hrs away, philly and b-more about 1hr, and DC and NY close by as well.
It looks like you will be coming from IL. Get ready for a bit of sticker shock(depending on where you are coming from) as prices have sky rocketed in recent years. My past clients generally liked the Newark and Hockessin areas, but Bear is pretty nice too. Middletown is pretty nice, but is a bit further drive, and in my opinion has not been properly planned given the huge surge in population they have seen-traffic in Middletown seems crazy to me, but it is still commutable to the Wilmington area. Plan on 30min-1hr depending on traffic. DE is a bit notorious for having a bad public school system compared to surrounding states. Many people send their kids to private school-mostly catholic schools. In that respect you pay or you pay-send them to private schools in DE or public in PA, but pay the same in the end with taxesÂÂc
Let me know if you have any Qs
Cheers
Eric
