could carpet have eaten clown?

Had a beautiful black clown ( my son's actually) that hosted in our beautiful long tentacle and got along great bought a small carpet a couple of weeks ago and the clown started going back and forth between the two . woke up this mornign and Barry ( as my son called him) was gone! could the carpet have gotten him he looks very suspicious!!

Once the clown has acclimated itself to the carpet, I don't think it is possible for the carpet to sting the clown. Maybe someone else has had a different experience.
