couple of odd questions.

I had to take my tank down and store it in a storage unit. Right now i have everything in the storage unit. I was wondering if the cold winter will have any effect on my tank/stand, rock, RO/DI filter and all of my other basic supplies for my reef tank because its starting to become very cold now, test kits, pvc pipes, also a question for all you RO/DI experts the should my membrain be o.k or will i have to replace when i set it up. before i took it down it had around 2 months of usage.i heard they last like 6 or so months. if im not filtering any water through it will i still have to replace it or will it still be good for months to come?

Hi,

Not sure where in ohio you are but I am sure some of the liquids in the test kits could freeze, riuning them. Even though you drain your ro unit, there is still water in the membrane. I would take those items out of storage and keep them in a closet till it warms up. Everything else will be ok if it gets cold.

The membrane should still be good when you fire things back up as long u left the membrane in the housing and it didn't dry up.

Good luck

For sure if the ro membrane freezes it's garbage. I was water purification in the army and for our membranes we had special tanks that kept them warm and wet. This was after we replaced them a few years in a row after they froze

I would be worried if you have water in the canisters of the RO/DI unit. I keep mine in the garage and last winter the water froze inside and broke one of the canisters. If you can I would go get the membrane and store it at your house.
