For the past year now my Clarkii pair have been spawning and lay 2-3 batches of eggs each month. I haven't had the time to attempt raising any of the young so the eggs have just hatched out each time in my display tank. I guess the guilt is eating at me so I talked to my LFS guy last week and he said he'd love for me to bring in the eggs just before hatching and he'd try and raise them. My first question is is this possible? Transfering the eggs quite a distance I mean. I know if I had a set up here at home I could easily swap the eggs over to a little tank just before hatching but will they likely survive being bagged and transfered to my LFS? Second question I have is regarding the rock my clown pair lay the eggs on. I've read where people put a tile in and the clowns lay on it but I don't have any small tiles here at home. Plus I'm a little concerned about putting something like tile in my tank because of what could possibly leech out into my tank. Does anyone have a suggestion of something known to be safe that would be a regular household item I could put in there today? I'd like to catch their next batch so I need to figure something out rather quickly. They're last batch of eggs hatched last night so they should be spawning again within a day or so. What's the best method to try and get them to lay on the new item? Just put it over their spot on the rock?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
