my tank is becoming established with coralline algae.as of this far its all been the pinkish purple algae that i typically see in pictures.but i have noticed there is some green coralline algae starting to grow.(not hair algae, has the same encrusting growth pattern the pink algae has).is this type good also?
i have also noticed coralline algae starting to grow on my sump walls,do i scrape this off or just let it grow also? it also has the green type starting to grow in it.thanks.

Coraline algae comes in a variety of colors. The green one your talking about is also good. In regards to your sump walls if you like the colors let it keep growing, otherwise scrape it off for a cleaner look.

I would just let it grow unless it it blocking any view you need. Some do not like the 'ol green color because it seems to detract from the other vibrant colors. Just be sure it is coralline and not the beginning of hair or other algae.

coralline does come in different colors. if this is in fact green coralline, well...hmmm. i would almost say don't scrape it b/c you dont' want to seed your tank with it. unless, you want it. how dominant are the other colors?

the other thing, does it scratch off easily? or same as pink/purple

AFAIK, coralline comes in purple, pink, green, brown, red, etc.... it is all good! :) it grows everywhere :))) usually I scrape it off in the display tank walls (for estetics), and let it grow freely in sump.

thanks.i also looked it up and seen some pictures of a bunch of different colors.just for future reference,is coralline algae considered hardy? if it dies will it cause any kind of spikes in parameters?
ya im letting it grow wild on the back pane, and keeping the side panes as clean as i can with how the aquascaping is.

Coralline is quite hardy imo. It will wax and wane in the aquarium depending on lighing, water params, etc.. but hard to kill. I don't think you'll have a problem keeping it alive and I've never heard of anyone having a problem in regards to water quality. ;)

sounds good,i will let it grow as it be.i quite like it ecspecially since i dont have a background on the tank...lol.i think i will let the green just grow as it be too,the more and more the algae grows, the more natural the tank looks, happy them, happy me..lol

I have purple and green blotches all over my rock. The green stuff looks like copper when it turns green - like the statue of liberty. Not sure if that helps, but I thought I'd share.
