Cowrie??

I recently purchased some mushrooms from LFS and noticed within a few days that two hitchhikers came with it. They are about a quarter inch long and from what I have researched they appear to be some kind of grey cowrie. Anybody ever dealt with these before?? They seem just like snails (harmless) but move around alot.

Probably not a cowry if it's only a quarter of an inch long, but we can probably get them ID'ed if you can get a pic.

My scale may have been off, now they are definitely at least a half an inch or bigger. Are cowries safe ??

It depends on the species. Put up a picture and Don can tell you what it is and what it feeds on.
