Hello,
This is my little piece of reef (to be). Ive been keeping reef/salt water tanks off and on for the last 15 years. This is my first attempt at Zeovit however. I fell in love with reefs when I traveled to Hawaii as a child and snorkeled on the reef. Since then, Ive always admired the reef but until recently I haven't been able to set up a tank that I enjoy due to moving and changing jobs over the years. I set up a 90g tank a year or two back and decided the larger tanks were not for me. Too much upkeep for my busy schedule. So I decided to go all out with my 57g rimless. Its in its infancy, but hopefully soon will be looking amazing.
At the heart of my tank is the custom Red Oak stand that I built with my father-in-law. The stand is mostly solid oak, with the only oak plywood being on the sides, base, and back.
This is my first attempt at zeovit and my tank is still only 3 weeks old. But so far zeovit has been interesting. I got huge cyano outbreak that is not getting under control but thanks to zeo, my nitrates are less than 0.5, and my phosphates are 0.03. So far I am very impressed by the zeovit method. But really want to see whats its capable of down the road.
My plan is to keep primarily sps with a few softies thrown in of my wife's choosing. Hopefully this tank turns out as well as Im hoping.
Enough talking, now time for some pictures. Here is a link to my album on photo bucket. http://s697.photobucket.com/albums/vv331/cpllongjk/
Merry Christmas
