Are there any MODS that can be done to inhance the performance of this skimmer? I have the surface skimmer and bubble trap box. I have a RIO 800 Rejuvinated PH for the skimmer which is more powerfull than the 600 it came with. Is there anything else?

This would be going onto a 30gallon breeder tank that I am going to use for a species(scorpionfish) tank.

I think it would work okay on a smaller tank like that. I had one on a 29 and it skimmed a lot of nasty goop. Like a lot of skimmers, the manufacturer overstates the tank size that it will handle.

I've had good luck using a maxi 1200 with a meshwheel and a modified volute. You just put a restrictor on the mouth of the pump and drill an injection hole as close to the impeller as possible

There's this one:

I used this mod and it greatly enhances the efficacy of the Bak Pak.
You will notice a great improvment in how much waste is removed.

I used a RIO 800 and an airpump method on my old 30 gallon reef and had no trouble keeping sps corals under it and this was a decade ago.

I would barely run any air through the rio and get an inexpensive airpump. The ratings on airpumps are always overstated too. Get an inexpensive one rated for something like a 60-80 gallon tank. This way you will be able to maximize the water flow without compromising on the amount of bubbles you have.

You have to raise the cup a about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch because the water level will rise a lot because of the air displacement from having more bubbles.
