CPR CS90 Overflow Problem

I have a CPR CS90 overflow that I purchased new from premium aquatics. I am running an Aqualifter on the nozzle to remove the air from the overflow tube which keeps the water flowing. My problem is with the nozzle constantly getting clogged. Every time a piece of algae or something gets sucked into the little hole is stops the Aqualifter from sucking the air out of the system and the water flow through the overflow starts to slowly decline as air builds up. Once the flow is slowed down enough, the water starts to back up into the main system, causing the level in my sump to drop, which in tern empties my RO/DI auto-topoff system into the sump causing a large volume of water to spill onto my floor and dropping the salinity of my system significantly. This has happened to me 5 times already in the 6 months that the system has been set up and I’m really starting to get fed up with it.

I'm hoping that someone has gone through a similar situation and can suggest a solution short of replacing the CPR overflow.

Thank you

Sorry to say, but this is a very common issue. The CPR is a terrible design, and the clogged nipple is a common failure point. I had the exact same issue (twice in 3 months) and ditched and replaced it with a reliable U Tube based overflow.

If there's no solution to this problem, can someone suggest a good, reliable overflow that's rated for around 600gph?

Thank you,
Mike
