CPU FAN or FUGE

So I have a heat issue with my tank. Before I bite the bullet on a small chiller, I want to try to add a fan to the hood. It would have to be the CPU size to fit the space - not the case fan. I was looking at some on the web but I notice they are wired with the little connector things to plug into computer things-of course they should be... I also noticed a lot have copper in them! If anyone could point me directly to one on ebay or a computer site it would make me more comfortable. There was also a question about ac or dc. I plan on splicing into the power for the one fan already in the hood. I assume it's feeding from the lighting power since it turns on when the lights turn on.

If that doesn't work I'll have to install a fuge and fan. I just haven't figured out how to do that without room for an overflow box and still be ok after power outage. Actually I'd prefer to go this route than a fan because I need a fuge anyhow. Any ideas? I've searched RC but no mods on this yet-that I can find.

nanotuners.com has lots of fan options for small tanks. You can also get them on ebay cheap if you know the size you want. You can find about every style of fan known to man on http://www.comairrotron.com/. You can have a rectifier in there which converts the AC to DC and therefore runs the fan at the same time you switch on the AC.

I'm definetely a big fan of cooling via fans. The only drawback is there is alot of evaporation, but that is how evaporative cooling works.
