Crab causing problems?

I recently found a crab living in one of my acros and thought it was a great thing. However, now after looking at the acro, I see some tissue missing in the inner section of the acro in the same area the crab usually hangs out. Could this be a pest rather than a commensal crab?

if polyp missing on the coral then keep him out.
