Looking for an I.D. on a crab that is a total surprise resident to my tank. It must have hitchhiked in on some rock that I purchased. I haven't got a picture, unfortunately, because it disappeared before I could take one. I know this is a bit of a stab in the dark, but since 45 minutes of rummaging through Google didn't turn up anything, I thought I'd give it a shot.
It's half an inch wide and neon orange with vertical white stripes... kind of like a crab version of a false percula clown. Another interesting characteristic is that it was brandishing a piece of shell that it had picked up, which reminded me of the anemone crab. It's not like any anemone crab I've seen before, though. Mine doesn't have long spidery legs. Shape-wise, he's similar to an emerald mythrix crab.
Any guesses?
