hi, my friend found one crab on his tank, but he want to know if the crab is reef safe

he use a trap with shrimp, but never catch the crab, later he use the trap and put algae and phytoplankton, then the crab go to the trap
somebody know this and know if he es reefsafe, thanks and sorry for my english

Sounds like an herbivore, and the claws don't look that pointy so probably safe. Might put it somewhere like a refugium so its behavior can be observed without risk.

One safe way to tell is by the claws. Dark in color and pointed generally means they are not reef safe. Even crabs with cupped tip claws are not always reef safe. I would personally put thet guy in your sump if you have one. Just by looking at his claws not safe.
