Crab identification...

Hello there.
I was hearing a ticking noise at nights from my tank and wondering what was it, until today, when i take the flashlight and found that guy.

Would you consider it as a reef safe crab and keep it in my display tank or should i move it in my sump?

most likely not reef safe. probably a form of mithrax

Its a type of mithrax crab. it is pretty hairy similiar to a teddy bear crab so I would guess not reef safe.

He is hairy and has pointed claws... I'd say not reef safe... I'd toss it in a sump, lfs, or see if someone here will take it off your hands...

if you have a fuge, toss him in there, otherwise, as everyone said, i wouldnt leave him in your DT

It´s a Pilodius sp. (eats primary algae).

Check your tank for mantis and pistol shrimp as only those will make "ticking" noises....

i would be looking for a mantis or pistol shrimp if i were you as stated above
